walk for wellbeing 2024 raises £135,000 for hospitality action.
Marking its fifth and biggest year to date, Walk for Wellbeing 2024 has raised a remarkable £135,000 for Hospitality Action.
Huge thanks to everyone who championed the cause and contributed to this amazing final fundraising figure.
Created and powered by mum, in partnership with Caterer.com, Imperial London Hotels, Lifetime Training, Mews and Peoplebank, individuals and teams from across the industry joined hosted 20km walks on 13th October in nine UK cities - London, Oxford, Bath/Bristol, Cardiff, Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester and Glasgow.
In addition, hundreds of people chose to ‘Walk It Your Way’ between World Mental Health Day on 10th October and 27th October. From walking 10km in a nature reserve or along a local beach with friends and family, to holding walking meetings and team walkabouts, participants came up with a variety of ways to get involved and play their part.
A special highlight this year was a record set by Hospitality Action Ambassador Charlie Hodson, who walked an impressive 155 miles from Norwich to London, raising £3,000 for the charity.
Mark Lewis, CEO of Hospitality Action, says: “Walk for Wellbeing is a growing national movement and testament to the importance of giving back. It’s about prioritising one’s own mental health and wellbeing whilst also feeling part of a supportive and united team where open dialogue is actively encouraged.”
Craig Prentice, Founder and Director of mum and Creator of Walk for Wellbeing, says:“It’s amazing to think that in just five years, Walk for Wellbeing has gone from a small group of twenty or so walkers to well over a thousand. Seeing people come together across the country to champion the cause and raise this amount of money for the charity is incredible. Huge thanks to everyone who got involved and contributed to our fundraising.
Of course, Walk for Wellbeing doesn't just happen, there are many individuals, companies and organisations involved in its planning and success and as we wrap things up this year, I'd like to say a huge thank you to those of you who have given so generously, whether it be your time, energy, resources or money.
Special thanks to Sean, Giuliana, Kathy, team Custard, all members of our steering committee, the entire team at Hospitality Action, our event partners Caterer.com, Imperial London Hotels, Lifetime, Mews, Peoplebank, our city hosts, volunteers, supporters and last but no means least, to everyone who walked and donated.
We can all be incredibly proud of the positive difference made.”
Walk for Wellbeing will return in October 2025.
